Welcome To he world of Block and his debut album/enhanced CD " Lead Me Not Into Penn Station" which combines elements of Folk, Funk and snippets of poetry into gritty city vignettes.
This Anti-Folk album features Adam Peters (Echo & The Bunnymen), Johnny Cragg (Spacehog), Jerry Krenach (Lou Reed) and Gary Sullivan (B-52s).
The all-original release was produced by Thom Panunzio (Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop..), recorded in NYC's SoHo and Hell's Kitchen, and mixed at the Hit Factory.
Block hails from the alternative-rock capital of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Now based in New York City's EastVillage, he has attracted national attention with his 'hipnotic' stage presence.
His "tarheel" and "Yankee" friends/fans include college-friends Superchunk,Polvo (whom Block samples in "Reuben Says"), Southern Culture On The Skins, David Poe, XTC's Andy Partridge and Poet Allen Ginsberg among others.
"Bright Lights, Big City, all the ingredients for today's Rock honesty twisted into a formula for future Folk-Music- this is Block."
