Kicking off awards season in earnest, the Venice Film Festival will world premiere movies by such directors as Alexander Payne, Guillermo del Toro, George Clooney, Darren Aronofsky, Paul Schrader and Martin McDonagh. The rundown announced today by fest chief Alberto Barbera was pretty much in line with expectations after Toronto spilled its beans earlier this week and shed light on what looked like shoo-ins for the Lido. Im Juli 2008 veranstaltete das HKW die erste Wassermusik. Unter der Überschrift „Surf, Seefahrerlieder und Tiki“ standen unter anderem Don Tiki, Dori Caymmi und The Surfaris auf der Bühne, die damals noch direkt neben dem Kanzleramt aufgebaut worden war. 2017 ist die Wassermusik ein etablierter Bestandteil des Berliner Kultursommers – Grund genug, um nun mit der 10. Ausgabe das Festival selbst zum Thema zu machen: Wassermusik X holt mit Khaled, den Barmer Boys oder Los Pirañas einige der Künstler*innen zurück, die in der Vergangenheit für besondere Gänsehautmomente gesorgt haben. Dazu kommen Gruppen wie Orchestre Les Mangelepa oder das Orchestra of Spheres, die schon für frühere Ausgaben vorgesehen waren, was aber aus unterschiedlichen Gründen nicht zustande kam. Wie gewohnt beschränkt sich auch Wassermusik X nicht auf Musik: Es gibt wieder ein Filmprogramm, ein Wortprogramm (diesmal von Flussbad Berlin kuratiert und dem Thema Flüsse gewidmet), den Wassermarkt und sogar eine Modenschau. The second trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 has been released, and it shows us a whole lot more of the desperate future. The sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic sees Harrison Ford reprising his role as Agent Deckard. Ryan Gosling stars opposite him as Officer K, a blade runner who discovers a dark secret that could end humanity as we know it. Morrissey Biopic ‘England Is Mine’ To Be Released Theatrically

England Is Mine, the newly retitled biopic about musician Morrissey from writer-director Mark Gill is getting a theatrical release through Cleopatra Entertainment. The film previously was titled Steven. England Is Mine will bow August 25 at the IFC Center in New York, then expand nationwide throughout the fall. The film will open first in the U.K. via eOne on August 4.
The drama, which recently closed the Edinburgh Film Festival, is about the early days of Morrissey, the iconic pop star and original frontman for seminal band the Smiths. It stars Jack Lowden (Dunkirk) as the artist born Steven Patrick Morrissey and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) as Linder Sterling, his soulmate and muse.
