This conference, the first devoted to Telemann in the English-speaking world, commemorates the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death. Paper sessions, featuring twenty leading scholars from the USA, Germany, the UK, and Japan, will be held at Temple University in Philadelphia. The conference is at the center of a week-long Philadelphia Telemann Festival that includes performances by Tempesta di Mare (tempestadimare.org), Night Music (nightmusicensemble.com), ensembles from Temple’s Boyer College of Music and Dance, and viola da gambist Thomas Fritzsch.
